The Forgotten Never Forget

The Forgotten Never Forget

By Will Burns

Our land of sorrowful rumination,

stripped senseless by beasts

of insatiable industry,

forging a practiced validation.

Chaos creeps in the darkness,

and we have lost,

been lost,

dissected of remembrance, and

deprived of identity

we exist,

lacking a defiant uniqueness

reflecting a tempered passion.

Set adrift by complexly rudimentary

vendettas, established through

the merciless perspectives

of yesterday’s future.

Our sorrows resonate within deep,

dark, dirt, poisoned by

neglected tears from a culture

made barren by the trail behind.

Where humanity regarded savage,

observed within a lens,

warped by an industrious

culture turned business.

A thousand years of footsteps,

forgotten by land cracked, and dry, and arid.

A thousand years of footsteps,

remembered, by forgotten echoes.
